I've recently removed freelance after more than 20 years in the Civil Services and I've found that, since I retired, my mood offers sunnier and sunnier. It's reminded me showing how important it is to have stock and get back together with the little factors in life that make all of us happy. And I think, if we all believe happy thoughts, we could bring about World Peacefulness...
I've been enjoying my own, personal enjoyment of life, and it's really got me thinking about how often we dash through life with this heads down, purpose on getting through this so that we can get on the next one. The heads down factor may be metaphorical, however particularly at this time of year, it becomes an actual thing as well -- as the darkness takes over and the weather conditions buffets us, the thing is people with their shoulder muscles hunched and their minds down against the dark and the cold.
The posture and your disposition are very closely associated - if you toe nail on a smile, stand tall and look the earth right in the eye (as Jim Reeves once said) you will learn to feel better; if you hint over, don't eye contact is key and act frustrated, you can very quickly be feel that way -- and I wonder whether or not the fact that many of us think down in the winter possesses as much to do with just how we hold yourself as it does into a lack of sunlight.
During one of my times of depression, an individual once suggested in my opinion that, at the end of each and every day, I should make an effort recalling three stuff that had helped me feel happy in that day. They don't have to be big elements and, in the midst of a bout of serious major depression, "happy" might have been also strong a word to work with, but recalling 3 good things each day was suggested as an useful gizmo to help me to start out noticing the benefits in my life. If I gone a stage even more and wrote all of them down, I'd likewise have something to seem back on through the really bad instances, to remind me personally that there were even now some lights inside the darkness.
At first its almost semed impossible, but after having a while I got into the rhythm and recognized what they'd intended by "happy". A few examples from that time (written during a holiday in Finland) include:
the total peacefulness of being within a rowing boat by itself in the middle of a pond
a picture my boy drew for me
a phone call from my personal daughter
birthday shows chosen with take pleasure in and care
a deer appearing throughout the trees and position very still to see us, before evaporating again
watching the Naked Gun and enjoying my boy's enjoyment of it
caffeine and cake with my husband in a coffeehouse in Helsinki
non-e of these are big things, but they had been points of light within a difficult time, and the storage of them still would make me feel warm and happy some years afterwards.
As often takes place, when the immediate threat passes it can be very easy to let your shield down, so once I was well once again I stopped purposely taking notice of what was making myself happy, and if Used to do notice I decided not to bother to write these people down.
But nowadays a funny thing has got happened. I've been sensing SO happy I desired to record that in some way, and to talk about it with people mainly because I don't think we all do enough of the. Maybe it's connected with being British -- we tend to bond more than shared complaints about the next thunderstorm, or poor services in shops, or perhaps how late the bus is, although we don't usually talk very much regarding the things we're experiencing - and one important thing I've noticed is the fact, when I try, persons look at me like I'm a bit strange... maybe I are a bit odd.... nonetheless wouldn't the world become a nicer place whenever we were more happy to invite people to promote in our everyday happinesses as well as our every day disappointments? Or even rather than?
Which is why I've started out Tweeting about my own happies and how come I'd like people to participate in. I'm going to bust a gut to track record my 3 #happies every day, and to inspire others to do precisely the same - if this kind of takes off, and #happies makes it into the top memes, we'd take a situation where many individuals were all pondering happy thoughts every single day, sharing them, and enjoying other people's cheerful thoughts too -- and if that's not a recipe for Environment Peace I can't say for sure what is!
So connect, tell all your good friends, and see how long it truly is before all the universe is sharing #happies...
